What to expect for your first family film.
One thing I want to highlight is that I am here to film and photograph your real life. I film home movies and take pictures in between.
Homes movies are supposed to be fun and relaxing. I don’t love the “say cheese” moments because they don’t capture the real moment.
When you are thinking about booking a family film, spend the day thinking about which moments of your daily routine, you will want to watch again when your children get older.
I love the brainstorming part of this process because there are literally no wrong answers. Your children will just be happy that these videos with you exist.
This sounds so cheesy and corny but time honestly goes by so quickly and things change every single day.
The ONLY REQUIREMENT for this session is to play around and be silly with your kids
So my biggest piece of advice for you is to honestly relax. I do not want anyone to be a model. I just want to capture your family living your lives.
Wear something comfortable
When I think about the home movies from my childhood, the footage would be like my brother and I in our living room, wearing mismatched pajamas playing in like a cardboard box with our dog ripping at the box. Home movies from the ’90s were chaotic, messy, and above all memorable.
In your family film, you should all wear clothes that you simply love.
Clothing holds so many memories; that Lego Ninjago shirt that is worn out, the old tutu that she never takes off, the concert shirt from 2007. These are the memories you will want to hold onto.
Do not super clean your home
The pile of laundry on the couch, your child’s favourite toys on the floor, the unmade bed, even the kitty litter will all be messes you won’t have to clean up one day. So let’s document your chaotic life with your children before they become memories.
